June was a month of full rooms, late customisations, and good conversations across several time zones. I delivered thirteen training days, submitted four blog pieces to PeopleCert, launched a new blog series on the PDCA Consulting website, and progressed a number of partnerships.
July opens with two more training days to close out Aenova, then a webinar I am genuinely looking forward to. As always, the update below is a transparent look at what has been keeping me busy and what is ahead.
Training Delivered – June
June was dominated by two major client engagements, Capgemini and Aenova Group, spanning PRINCE2, Management of Risk, and ITIL (Version 5) in both German and English.
- Capgemini BNL PRINCE2 V7 Foundation: three days of virtual delivery via Teams.
- Capgemini BNL Management of Risk (M_o_R) Foundation: two day Foundation programme for project and programme teams.
- Aenova Group via d-ploy and xprnc.it: ITIL (Version 5) Foundation German cohort, six days of heavily customised delivery.
- Aenova Group via d-ploy and xprnc.it: ITIL (Version 5) Foundation English cohort, four days of delivery continuing into July.
The Aenova engagements were particularly interesting. It became clear early on that they wanted more than a standard Foundation course. They needed the core Management practices to land practically for their teams.
Partnerships & Business Development
- Clorient partner profile in progress after a PRINCE2 Agile Foundation session for a Swedish client team.
- KnowledgeTrain reconnected to explore future collaboration across the APMG portfolio.
- EZMaster webinar materials and trainer bio shared ahead of the ITIL Foundation introduction session on 20 July.
- Omnicom reconnected to provide ITIL (Version 5) Foundation training in July.
Content & Thought Leadership
I submitted four blog pieces to PeopleCert this month: ITIL, AI and Service Request Management; Same Territory, Shared Map: ITIL (Version 5) and the Cynefin Framework; All the Fives: Industry and ITIL; and Why Users Are Exactly Like Cats.
I also launched a new blog series on the PDCA Consulting website exploring the integration of MSP, SAFe, PRINCE2 and ITIL. The series looks at how organisations that have collected multiple frameworks can use them coherently rather than in competition.
LinkedIn Thought Leadership – June
June saw daily publishing across four distinct threads. The posts below link to the original LinkedIn posts.
Training that sticks
- A certificate will not fix a broken team.
2 Jun - Most training loses people for a boring reason.
6 Jun - I recently delivered a full course to one person.
7 Jun - I am about to teach the new ITIL for the first time. In German.
8 Jun - This year I did something most trainers avoid. I became a student again.
18 Jun - Most people pick a trainer the same way they pick a taxi. Whoever is available and roughly the right price.
22 Jun - One of my favourite learners almost did not show up.
24 Jun
PRINCE2 and governance
- PRINCE2 is not red tape.
3 Jun - There is one PRINCE2 principle that almost every team forgets.
17 Jun - Most managers are drowning in approvals they never needed to see.
19 Jun
ITIL service management
- Closing tickets fast is not the same as good service.
4 Jun - One client saved two million euros a year. They did not buy a single new tool.
5 Jun - Your AI assistant still thinks it is ITIL 4.
9 Jun - Nobody told your team why.
10 Jun - Most service catalogues are a list of names.
11 Jun - Change is not a form.
16 Jun - Your team looks busy.
14 Jun - PeopleCert has published my latest article on ITIL, AI and Service Request Management.
20 Jun
MSP, SAFe, PRINCE2 & ITIL blog series
- Your team does not need another framework. They need to use one well.
23 Jun - Most organisations did not choose SAFe, PRINCE2 and ITIL through one clean design. They collected them over time.
25 Jun - An Agile Release Train can be very good at delivery. It can plan work, align teams, and release on a steady rhythm.
26 Jun - If you come from PRINCE2 or ITIL, your first SAFe PI Planning session can feel like a different language.
27 Jun - At programme level, the question is bigger than delivery.
30 Jun - Most framework arguments are not really about frameworks. They are about roles.
29 Jun
