About Robert Pinnington and PDCA Consulting
PDCA Consulting is me: Robert Pinnington. For over 20 years I’ve helped organisations fix the parts of IT and project delivery that never quite work — service desks that go in circles, project offices that report problems but can’t prevent them.
Why “PDCA”?
PDCA stands for Plan–Do–Check–Act, the improvement cycle behind almost every good management method: decide what to fix, fix it, check it worked, and make it stick. It’s also how I work.
What I do
I improve service desks and project offices — and I train the people who run them. Where a client needs more hands, I work with a small network of trusted partners, including in Finland and the UK.
Where I’ve done it
I built a major investment bank’s service desk from scratch against hard targets, and kept it delivering when a merger quadrupled the user base from 2,000 to 8,000. Since then I’ve worked with service desks and project offices in sectors including IT services, pharmaceutical manufacturing and large retail, usually brought in when the usual fixes haven’t worked.
Who I work with
Mid-sized and larger organisations, often international, where IT support or project delivery is a cost the business feels but can’t measure. The people who call me are usually CFOs, COOs, owners and heads of IT or PMO who want an independent view before spending more money.

How I work
- Outcome first
You buy a service desk or PMO that works, not a framework.
- Evidence, not opinion
I start with your own data and the people who do the work.
- Built to last
I aim to leave your own team able to keep it going.
Where I’m based
PDCA Consulting is based in Wehrheim, near Frankfurt am Main. I work on site and remotely across Europe.
Training and the wider community
Alongside the consulting, I’m an accredited PeopleCert trainer for the full ITIL Version 5 and PRINCE2 suites, and an Ambassador for both. That keeps me close to where the frameworks are heading, and it means my training comes from real improvement work, not just the syllabus. I also write a weekly blog on service and project management in the Insights section.
Not sure it’s worth a conversation?
Thirty minutes, no obligation. You’ll leave with two or three things worth fixing first.
